Adding a socket looks like a small job, and often it is — but only after checking that the circuit you are extending can carry the addition and is protected correctly. Extending a circuit with no RCD protection is how a small job creates a condition-report failure.

Spur or new circuit
A single socket spurred from a ring is fine in the right place. A run of new sockets for a home office, or anything feeding a heavy appliance, deserves its own way from the board. We tell you which one your situation calls for and price both if it is borderline.
Keeping decoration intact
Loft drops, under-floor routes and existing capping usually beat chasing straight down a freshly painted wall. Where chasing is unavoidable we say so before starting rather than after.
Outdoor and garage points
Outdoor sockets need weatherproof enclosures and RCD protection, and garages usually benefit from their own small board rather than a long spur.

Can you add sockets without lifting all the floor?
Usually. We plan routes to minimise disruption and tell you what access we need in advance.
Is adding a socket notifiable?
Standard additions in ordinary rooms are generally not notifiable, but work in bathrooms and new circuits is. We handle notification where required.
