Outdoor lighting fails for one of two reasons: water gets into a joint that was never rated for it, or the design lights the ground and blinds anyone walking towards the house. Both are avoidable at planning stage.
We install exterior lighting on properly protected circuits with weatherproof connections, and we plan the effect — path, step, wall wash, feature planting — rather than just fixing lamps to a wall.

Lighting the space, not the wall
A single floodlight over a back door creates glare and deep shadow. Lower-level path and step lighting, plus a couple of wall washes, gives usable light at a fraction of the wattage and looks considerably better from inside the house.
Weather and coastal exposure
Fittings on exposed elevations and near the coast need corrosion-resistant materials, not just an IP number. We specify accordingly for exposed South Wales properties.
Control that people actually use
PIR for security positions, dusk-to-dawn for path lighting, and a switched circuit for feature lighting you want on only when entertaining. Mixing controls on one circuit is where most retrofits go wrong.
Common questions
Can outdoor lights run off an indoor circuit?
They need suitable protection and correctly rated cable. Sometimes an existing circuit can be extended; often a dedicated way is cleaner.
How long do outdoor LED fittings last?
Quality sealed fittings last for years; the usual failure point is a poor connection, not the lamp.
Can you fit lighting during a landscaping project?
Yes, and first-fixing before paving goes down is far cheaper than retrofitting afterwards.
