The most common planning question is not price, it is how long the power is off and how many days someone needs to be in. Here are honest durations based on how these jobs actually run, rather than optimistic ones.
Every one of these varies with access and property condition, and we confirm the specific timing at quote stage.
- Consumer unit change: one working day, power off part of it
- Domestic EICR: two to four hours, power interrupted briefly per circuit
- EV charger: three to five hours, single visit
- Full rewire: five to ten working days depending on property size
Jobs done in a single visit
EV charger installations, board changes, EICRs, extra sockets, light fittings, extractor fans and most fault finding are single-visit jobs. We aim to complete rather than return, and the van carries the common consumables to make that possible.
Jobs that need two visits
Anything with plaster in the middle: kitchen and bathroom work, extensions, loft conversions. First fix before boarding, second fix after decoration. The gap is dictated by the other trades, not by us.
Where delays actually come from
Rarely the electrical work. Usually it is access to a meter cupboard, a board found to be full, or remedial work discovered during testing. Surveying properly beforehand removes almost all of it.

Do you work weekends?
We can arrange out-of-hours work for commercial premises and where a weekday is impossible.
How much notice do you need?
Most work is booked within the same or following week; emergencies are same-day where possible.
Will the power be off all day?
Rarely. Even during a board change, power is off only for the changeover and testing.
