Most hot tubs sold as "plug and play" still want a 13A supply they don't have to share, and anything larger needs a dedicated hard-wired circuit with an outdoor isolator within sight of the tub. Getting this wrong is not a comfort issue — it is a water-and-electricity issue, and it is the reason RCD protection and correct earthing are non-negotiable.
We install the supply to the manufacturer's stated requirements and to BS 7671, and we test it before you fill the tub rather than after.

Reading the manufacturer's spec properly
Tub manuals give a supply requirement in amps, sometimes with a choice of configurations. The number that matters is the maximum simultaneous load with heater and pumps running, not the average. We work from that figure.

Siting the isolator
The isolator must be accessible, weatherproof, and positioned so anyone in the tub can be isolated quickly — but not so close that it sits in the splash zone. We agree the position on site.
Board capacity
A hot tub is a sustained load, not an occasional one. If your consumer unit is already full or is an older rewireable board, we will price the board work alongside the tub supply so you see the true total rather than discovering it later.
Common questions
Can I just plug the hot tub into an outdoor socket?
Only for genuinely 13A plug-in models, and even then it should be an RCD-protected outdoor socket that isn't shared with other heavy loads.
How far can the tub be from the house?
Distance affects cable size rather than feasibility. We calculate voltage drop for the actual run.
Is it notifiable work?
Yes — a new outdoor circuit is notifiable, and we handle the notification.
