How Much Does EV Charger Installation Cost in 2026?

A breakdown of typical UK EV charger install costs, what affects the price, and which government grants are still available.

Typical install cost

A standard 7kW home charger fitted within 5 metres of your consumer unit usually lands between £800 and £1,200 supplied and installed. Tethered units, longer cable runs, and three-phase supplies cost more.

What affects the price?

Distance from your fuse board, whether load balancing is needed, the brand of charger (Ohme, Zappi, Hypervolt, Andersen), and whether your incoming supply needs upgrading.

Are grants still available?

The OZEV EV chargepoint grant of up to £350 is still available for flat owners and renters in single-unit properties, plus separate grants for landlords. We're an OZEV-approved installer and handle the paperwork.

Why use a certified installer?

EV chargers must comply with BS 7671 and be notified to your DNO. DIY installs invalidate your home insurance and most manufacturer warranties.
